Who is this for?
This workshop is designed to help leaders of all levels minimize the challenges and maximise the benefits of managing a cross-cultural team.
Course content
According to research findings by McKinsey consultancy, organisations with a high proportion of cross-cultural teams financially outperform their mono-cultural counterparts by 36%. By combining different perspectives to enhance problem solving, creativity and innovation, cross-cultural teams help to make their organisations more inclusive, competitive and forward-thinking.
However, the very thing that makes these teams strong – ie different frames of reference and ways of doing things - is also what can lead to challenges in creating team cohesiveness. These can stem from language barriers, different working practices, feedback preferences, attitudes to authority and management styles. In addition, many of us are communicating virtually with global team members from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, who we may never actually meet in person.
We will explore key cultural dimension frameworks to help us recognise behavioural differences and synergies and use this knowledge to develop practical strategies to build relationships, enhance trust, provide support, manage conflict and boost cross-cultural team performance – both face-to face and remotely.
